What Kerala Reminded Me

What Kerala Reminded Me

Date

Kerala's warmth, Delhi's changemakers, Nepal's resilience. A month that reminded me travel is always about people first.

About This Event

September so far has been a month of contrasts, learning more about Responsible Tourism in Kerala at the International Cultural Exchange and attending ICRT Indian Subcontinent Awards, while back home Nepal was going through such difficult times. It reminded me why community tourism matters: because it’s about people, not just places. From families in Kerala who welcomed us into their Onam, to women drivers in Delhi breaking stereotypes, to our incredible hosts in Nepal who continue opening their homes with warmth even in turmoil, I saw again how travel is really about human connection. This write-up started as a process to make sense of events that happened around me and a reflection to why I do what I do. Grateful always to my amazing team at Community Homestay Network, your resilience, care, and commitment remind me every day why this work is worth showing up for. Thank you Shiva Dhakal dai for leading the way with empathy and care.
