Stitching Culture, One Thaili at a Time

Overview

Immerse yourself in Nepalese culture with a unique workshop that teaches you the art of making "Thaili," a traditional drawstring pouch deeply rooted in Nepalese tradition. Guided by local women from the Panauti Community Homestay, this hands-on experience lets you learn the history, significance, and crafting process of Thaili while offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the hosts.

Description

The workshop occurs in a cosy host house at the Panauti Community Homestay. After a warm introduction, you'll learn about the origins and cultural importance of Thaili, which Nepalese women traditionally use to carry money and ornaments. Using provided materials like scrap cloth, sewing needles, and threads, you'll follow the guidance of the hosts to stitch your own Thaili.

Short breaks are included, during which you can enjoy homemade tea and engage in friendly conversations with the hosts. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your handcrafted Thaili—a meaningful souvenir symbolizing Nepalese tradition.

Whether you're a craft enthusiast, a culture seeker, or simply looking for a memorable keepsake, this workshop promises a delightful and authentic experience.
