Embrace the Rhythm of Tharu Life and Culture

Overview:

This mini trip whilst at Chitwan is designed for travellers who are keen to go beyond the jungle activities in Chitwan and dive deep into the rich cultural heritage of the Tharu community directly. Staying at this homestay offers you a chance to experience these traditions firsthand in a far more intimate and authentic setting within your own space at the private huts for your stay.

Over the course of two days, you can engage in various activities that bring you closer to the Tharu way of life. The cultural program on the first night introduces you to traditional Tharu dance and music, performed with passion and pride by the community members. On the second day, you can choose hands-on experiences that interest you- dressing like locals, trying your hand at Tharu wall painting—a form of art that carries deep symbolic meanings—and adorning your hands with beautiful henna designs crafted by local women. The day wraps up with a Tharu cooking class, where you'll learn to prepare traditional dishes, cook side by side with your hosts, and end the day with a shared meal.
