How to get here

Fly: Flights go to Nepalganj from Kathmandu, taking about an hour. It then takes two hours by road to Ambassa, where auto-rickshaws take you the last 30 minutes to Thakurdwara and the national park headquarters.

Road: It is nearly 600km from Kathmandu to Dalla Community Homestay and takes around 10 hours by private vehicle.

Buses leave from the New Bus Park in Kathmandu in the afternoon to reach Ambassa on the main East-West Highway early the next morning (14-16 hours).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there Wi-Fi available?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available in almost every house.

Does the homestay provide drinking water?

Yes, your hosts will provide boiled water, which is safe to drink. We encourage guests to opt for boiled water instead of plastic bottles to help protect the environment.

Are there Western toilets available?

There is a mix of squat and western washroom facilities within homestays. Please let us know when booking if you would need a western washroom, we can allocate it if available.

Do my hosts speak English?

Most of the hosts do speak little to basic English but they do have at least one member in the family who can communicate with good English for ease of interaction.

Are there any animals? I’m allergic to cats/dogs/etc.

Yes, some families have pets. If you are allergic, please let us know when booking, and we will arrange a stay in an animal-free house for you.
