Discover the Hidden Treasures of Dhankuta

Overview:

Join us on a unique journey through Dhankuta, where you'll explore culture, tradition, and climate awareness. Experience the Mangshire Festival, a special event by the Aathpahariya community that honours deceased relatives and celebrates new family members. Families take a three-day trip to Barahakshetra for ritual bathing and worship, then return home to continue the celebration with traditional music and dance like Dhol and Maruni.

On this trip, you'll visit places like Hile and Cholung Park, see traditional Limbu houses, and pick oranges at Sipting Community Homestay. You'll also enjoy a scenic hike from Chuliban to Khambela, where you'll learn about water conservation efforts in the area. This journey lets you experience Nepal's rich culture and beautiful landscapes and highlights how local communities are tackling climate change.

We invite you to an unfrequented trail that showcases Nepal's rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and innovative efforts to combat climate change. In collaboration with our partner organizations, Dhankuta Municipality, Chattar Jorpati Rural Municipality, HUSADEC, Smart Paani, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), we are building tourism ecosystem with the Aathpahariya communities by promoting responsible tourism that highlights both local traditions and environmental stewardship.
